Notre Dame, IN- The IU South Bend men's basketball team only had to travel three miles to play cross-town rival Holy Cross on Saturday night as the Titans wrapped up their third game in five days defeating the Saints 58-52 on Saturday night. With the victory IU South Bend improves to 8-12 on the season and HCC falls to 2-20.
Sophomore Kyle Heatherly turned in another solid performance scoring a team-high 16 points connecting on 8-of-14 field goals on the night. Heatherly was in a giving mood as he dished out a team-high six assists and pulled down five boards in 40 minutes of action. Teammate Alanzo Bass turned it on in the second half and finished the contest with 15 points, which included a perfect 8-of-8 from the charity stripe. Steven Heatherly chipped in with 10 points. Brad Kunce did a solid job on the boards pulling down a team-high ten rebounds in the victory.
The Titans, who won their second game in a row, shot 43.5% from the field and out-rebounded the Saints 32-28. IU South Bend continues to play solid defense and held HCC to just 19 points in the first half and for the game the Saints hit on just 2-of-10 from beyond the arc.
Junior Taylor Williams led all scorers with 22 points in the defeat. Williams recorded a double-double pulling down 10 rebounds in 36 minutes of action. Zac Cook pumped in 8 points on 2-of-5 three-pointers.
IU South Bend will host the Lakers from Roosevelt University on January 26th. Tip-time is slated for 7:00 p.m. EST.
