Katie Hacker (Indianapolis, IN/Franklin Central) scored 17 of her game-high 24 points in the second half as IU South Bend (14-4/3-0) took a 19-point halftime advantage and extended it to a 73-49 win over CCAC foe Holy Cross. Betsy Grogan (Battle Ground, IN/West Lafayette Harrison) added 15 points and Courtney Simpson (Nappanee, IN/NorthWood) chipped in with 12 to join Hacker in double figures, while Ashley Hummer (South Bend, IN/Mishawaka Marian) added nine, all before the break.

Early in the contests, the Titans jumped out, leading 11-5 just three minutes in. The Saints got an Alandrea Nailon bucket at the 14:45 mark to pull to within four, at 11-7, but from there IU South Bend controlled the majority of the contest, opening a 17-point advantage midway through the first period.

Holy Cross fought back, bringing the lead into single digits at 28-19 with 6:52 remaining, but IU South Bend closed the opening period on a 14-4 spurt to bring the lead back to 19 at the half. The Titans blistered the nets in the opening stanza, connecting on 8-of-12 from beyond the three point line.

Out of the break, another Hacker triple pushed the lead to 22, and a Simpson jumper in the lane six minutes into the second half pushed the lead to 25. From there, the two teams played relatively even, and after a seventh - and final - triple from Hacker with 3:01 to play, the Titans held their largest advantage at 27, and finished the contest with a 73-49 triumph.

Hummer added six rebounds - all in the first half - to her nine points, while Simpson, Grogan and Hacker each pulled down five.

The Titans return to action on Saturday, January 23, when they travel to Chicago to take on third-ranked St. Xavier. A season ago, the two teams split, with each team winning close contests on the others' home court. The Cougars won a four-point affair in South Bend on January 24, while the Titans stormed back from a 17-point deficit to take an 83-78 overtime win in Chicago on February 21. Tip off of that contest is set for 2:00 PM EST.
