SOUTH BEND, Ind. – Five Indiana University South Bend men's basketball players scored in double-figures in a 112-81 victory over the University of Akron-Wayne on Friday night at the Student Activities Center. Avery Harmon (SR/Broadview, Ill.) paced the Titans offense with 20 points in 18 minutes.
Phil Corthen (FR/Muncie, Ind.) came off the bench and netted 19 points 15 of which came from long distance.
IU South Bend got off to a slow start against the 0-2 Warriors and led by just two points halfway through the opening stanza. However, over the last 10 minutes the Titans offense found its rhythm and outscored the Warriors 37-24 to take a 63-41 lead into the locker room.
The Titans controlled the second half never leading by less than 16 points. Every Titan player who played in the contest scored at least three points.
T.J. Benner (JR/Mishawaka, Ind.) chipped in with 15 points while Myluv Sutton (SO/Fort Wayne, Ind. ) and Taylor Brooks (JR/Granger, Ind.) each added 12 points in the win. Brooks added a team-high 11 rebounds for his first double-double of the season.
IU South Bend will travel north to Andrews University tomorrow to take on the Cardinals. Tip-off is set for 7:30 p.m.
