NOTRE DAME, Ind. – Avery Harmon (SR/Broadview, Ill.) poured in 28 points including eight three pointers to lead the Indiana University South Bend men's basketball team past the Holy Cross College Saints to open Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference action on Wednesday night by a score of 81-69.
Matt Bullinger (JR/Jackson, Mich. ) and Avery Harmon started the scoring for the Titans hitting three straight triples to give IU South Bend an early 9-4 lead. Trailing by just one point with 8:09 to play in the half the Titans went on a 15-3 run to extend their lead to 11. Alex Harmon (FR/Wabash, Ind.) drained a three form the corner to send IU South Bend into the break with a 12 point advantage.
HCC made things interesting as they cut the IU South Bend lead to one point at the 11:29 mark but with the three's falling the Titans were able to stave off the Saints comeback on their way to a conference victory.
Bullinger finished with 11 points while Jeremy Jones (JR/Fort Wayne, Ind.) added 10. IU South Bend made 20 three pointers, shooting 54 percent from long distance.
CCAC play will continue on Saturday as the Titans travel to Saint Xavier University. Tipoff is set for 4:00 p.m. ET
