Chicago, IL- The IU South Bend men's basketball team lost to St. Xavier University 71-69 on Saturday afternoon at the Shannon Center on the campus of SXU.  The Titans fall to 6-16 overall and 2-2 in conference play.  The Cougars improve to 16-7 overall and stand at 4-1 in the CCAC.

The Titans fell behind by as many as 14 points in the second half, but battled back and fell just short in the waning seconds of the game.  Clutch free throw shooting late in the game sealed the victory for the Cougars.

Ben Werner continues to be a bright spot for the Titans pouring in a game-high 19 points and pulling down 17 rebounds on the afternoon.  He connected on 6-of-11 shots and had a team high three assists to lead the Titans.  Terry Hill pumped in 17 points on 7-of-14 shooting from the field and continues to produce quality minutes off the bench.  Teammate Kyle Heatherly chipped in with 12 points to round out the scoring for the Titans.

Saint Xavier registered four players in double figures led by Roosevelt Green who scored 18 points while Zach Opheim chipped in with 11 for the Cougars.

The Titans will return to action on Saturday when they play host to St. Francis (Joliet, IL) in a conference match-up.  This is also Alumni Day at the Student Activities Center.  Tip-time for the men is scheduled for 2:00 p.m.
