WESTVILLE, Ind. – The Indiana University South Bend men's basketball team dropped its third straight on Wednesday night as the fell 69-63 to Purdue University Northwest in Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference action. The loss drops the Titans to 6-4 overall and 1-2 in league play.
IU South Bend had the hot hand early from long distance as Matt Bullinger (JR/Jackson, Mich. ) and T.J. Benner (JR/Mishawaka, Ind.) hit three consecutive to put the Titans ahead early 9-3. With the Titans leading 15-7, the Pride went on an 8-0 run to even the game at 15 with 10:45 to play in the half.
Taylor Brooks (JR/Granger, Ind.) scored bucket with 1:31 left to make the score 28-27 in favor of PNW which would stick until halftime.
Out of the halftime intermission Jeremy Jones (JR/Fort Wayne, Ind.) knocked down a three on the Titans first possession to give them a slim lead. From that point on both teams traded baskets until the two minute mark when Purdue Northwest was able to get some defensive stops and build its lead to seven points with 1:30 left in the contest.
The Titans full court press forced PNW into some late turnovers resulting in points but it wasn't enough as the Titans fell 69-63.
Jeremy Jones finished with a game-high 20 points.
IU South Bend will return to action on Saturday as they host Roosevelt in conference action. Tipoff is set for 3:00 p.m.
