SOUTH BEND, Ind. – A strong effort from the bench propelled the Indiana University South Bend to a 79-64 victory over Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference foe, Trinity Christian College on Wednesday night. Avery Harmon (SR/Broadview, Ill.) and Taylor Brooks (JR/Granger, Ind.) came in off the bench to combine for 33 points. Harmon finished with 16 and Brooks with 17 points in the victory. Brooks also pulled in a team-high eight rebounds. Alex Harmon (FR/Wabash, Ind.) provided 13 quality minutes scoring four points and denying three shots.
Jeremy Jones (JR/Fort Wayne, Ind.) had the hot hand dropping a team-high 24 points, 20 of which came in the first half. Jones was 5-of-11 from long distance and 5-of-6 from the free throw line.
Trinity Christian opened up an early 10-point advantage through the first six minutes of the contest. But with 13:37 to play in the half the Titans started their charge going on a 22-0 run that was finished with a Jones layup forcing the Trolls to take a timeout.
Jones was fouled shooting a three and converted all three free throws to close out the half and send the Titans into the break with a 17-point lead.
IU South Bend again featured a slow start in the opening minutes of the second half allowing the Trolls to cut their lead to single digits at 46-37 with 14:25 to play in the game. Avery Harmon scored six straight points to put the Titans back up by 15 points.
With just under six minutes to play the Trolls once again cut the IU South Bend lead to nine points but were not able to get any closer as the Titans sealed their eighth victory of the season.
IU South Bend forced the Trolls into 21 turnovers which resulted in 25 points.
The Titans will travel to St. Ambrose University this weekend to battle the Fighting Bees on Saturday. Tipoff is set for 4:00 p.m.
