SOUTH BEND, Ind. – Avery Harmon (SR/Broadview, Ill.) scored a season-high 36 points on Saturday afternoon as the Indiana University South Bend men's basketball team dropped an overtime thriller to Siena Heights University by a score of 87-85 to close out the 2016 home portion of the schedule.
Jeremy Jones (JR/Fort Wayne, Ind.) converted a pair of free throws with 35 seconds left in regulation to give the Titans a 75-73 lead. On the next SHU possession the Saints got a tip-in from Chris Pearl to even the game at 75 with 14 seconds on the clock. With time running out, Myluv Sutton (SO/Fort Wayne, Ind. ) had an open look from the top of the key for the win but couldn't convert, sending the game into overtime.
In the overtime period Avery Harmon netted a triple to put the Titans ahead 80-77 but the following Saints possession Tony Jackson tied the game for the 10th time with an old fashioned three-point play. After an 81-all tie, the visiting Saints would regain the lead and never look back as they hit four free throws down the stretch to seal the victory.
T.J. Benner (JR/Mishawaka, Ind.) scored 15 points while Taylor Brooks (JR/Granger, Ind.) added 14 points and a team-high seven rebounds in the loss. Jeremy Jones chipped in with 13 points and four steals.
The Titans will travel to the University of Akron Wayne College on December 28th.
