SOUTH BEND, Ind. – The Indiana University South Bend men's basketball team led for just 4:14 on Wednesday night as they fell 88-78 in a crucial Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference matchup with Calumet College of St. Joseph.
IU South Bend started the scoring when Jeremy Jones (JR/Fort Wayne, Indiana) and Sutton both hit layups to give the Titans the early 4-0 lead. After trading baskets, Sutton gave the Titans another four-point lead on a triple with 16:02 on the clock.
At the 13:23 mark, the Crimson Wave regained the lead and ran away, building a lead as large as 25 points during the first half. The Titans ended the first half on a 7-0 run to go into the locker-room facing an 18-point deficit.
The first 15 minutes of the second half belonged to the Crimson Wave as they continued to pour it onto the Titans. CCSJ led by as many as 29 points.
With 3:39 left in the game the Titans trailed 87-61. The offense finally got going and ended the game on a 17-1 run but ran out of time.
The Titans will travel to Olivet Nazarene on Saturday to continue CCAC action. Tipoff is set for 4:00 p.m. in Bourbonnais, Illinois.
