SOUTH BEND, Ind. – The Indiana University South Bend men's golf team placed fifth in the South Bend Intercollegiate on Saturday. The teams were forced to play 36 holes on Saturday as a result of weather canceling day one of the tournament.
Payton Grubbs (JR/Nappanee, Indiana) was the bright spot for the Titans as Grubbs took home a first-place finish with a 36-hole total of 151 (+9). Grubbs shot a 74 in the first 18 and followed that up with a 77 over the final 18 holes. This is the first time an IU South Bend golfer has finished in the top spot.
Broc Maurer (SO/South Bend, Indiana) played well as he shot back-to-back rounds of 81 to finish tied for ninth place.
IU South Bend will return to the course tomorrow as they travel to the Broadmoor Invitational in Indianapolis.
