SOUTH BEND, Ind. – Indiana University South Bend head men's basketball coach Scott Cooper has announced the addition of Andrew Jones to his roster for the 2017-18 season.
"Andrew is a very good addition our program, especially this late in the recruiting process," stated Cooper. "He is a really athletic combo guard who can score and make plays off the bounce. He is a solid three-point shooter, as well as a good defender and an outstanding rebounder. He has had to play a lot of different roles the past two years, and was willing to do whatever it took to help his team win."
Jones will arrive in South Bend after having played two years at Ancilla College in Donaldson, Indiana. While at Ancilla, Jones helped lead the Chargers to a 46-16 record as part of the winningest class in Ancilla history. During his sophomore season, Jones helped guide the Chargers to the District IX Championship game and No. 16 ranking in the National Junior College Athletic Association.
"Andrew comes from a well-coached program at Ancilla that does a great job of getting their guys ready to play at the four-year levels," added Cooper. "Andrew is also a kid that has grown up a lot the past few years, and turned himself into a very good student. I have no doubt he will be an excellent addition to our program and campus community."
During his time at Ancilla, Jones averaged 10.4, 4.4 rebounds, and 2.0 assists while shooting 48 percent from the floor and 36 percent from long distance.
The two-time all-conference selection at Ancilla prepped at Clarksville High School where he earned an honorable mention all-state selection as a senior.
