SOUTH BEND, Ind. – The Indiana University South Bend volleyball program and head coach Jamie Ashmore have released the 2017 IU South Bend volleyball schedule, a 29-match schedule that features just seven matches in front of their home crowd.
The Titans are coming off a season in which the program made its first trip to the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) National Tournament. After making their way to the championship game Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAC) Tournament, the Titans earned at at-large bid to the National Tournament. IU South Bend traveled to Butte, Montana in the opening round and fell to Montana Tech in three sets.
Just as they have the previous two seasons, the Titans will open up their 2017 slate against crosstown rival, Bethel College. The Pilots hold a slight edge in the overall series, winning three of the five total matches played between the rivals. The Titans and Pilots will battle at Bethel College with first serve coming at 7:00 p.m. on August 23.
IU South Bend will then travel to the University of Michigan Dearborn Tournament on August 25th and 26th. The Titans will face two new opponents in Carlow University and Williams Baptist College. IU South Bend will also take on Lawrence Tech and Spring Arbor. The Titans are a combined 4-1 against Lawrence Tech and Spring Arbor.
CCAC action will begin on September 5 with a trip to Olivet Nazarene University. On September 7 the Titans will play their first match at home against CCAC foe, the University of St. Francis (USF). First serve is set for 7:00 p.m.
The Titans will play their home finale on October 19 as they host Calumet College of St. Joseph in CCAC action.
IU South Bend will travel to St. Ambrose on October 6, 7, Roosevelt on October 27, and 28 for this year's CCAC crossover tournaments.
The Titans will close out their season on a five-match road trip that includes stops at USF, Roosevelt, and Governors State.
