SOUTH BEND, Ind. – The Indiana University South Bend baseball team has added Gregory Pietsch of North Montgomery High School to its 2017-18 roster.
Pietsch, a multi-sport athlete earned three letters in football and two in basketball to go along with three for the NMHS baseball team.
The 5'11" catcher helped the Chargin' Chargers to a 15-13 overall record and fourth-place finish in the Sagamore Conference in his senior season. Pietsch recorded 34 hits including 14 extra base hits and finished with a .398 average with four home runs and 30 runs batted in which eanred him a first team all-conference selection. Gregory was also named to the Lafayette Journal and Courier Big School All-Area team.
During his junior year, Pietsch helped North Montgomery to a 24-6 record and a second place finish in the Sagamore Conference before falling in the second round of sectionals.
Pietsch was actively involved in organizations outside of baseball as he was the National Honor Society Vice President and finished his final trimester with a 4.0.
Gregory plans to study marketing while at IU South Bend.
The IU South Bend baseball team finished with a 24-26 overall record in 2017, making their first trip to the Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference tournament.
