Dearborn, Mich - The women's volleyball team opened the UM Dearborn Earlybird Tournament with a 3-0 win against Carlow University. After taking the first set 25-19 they never looked back, winning the next two 25-23 and 25-14.
The Titans recorded an impressive 43 kills for the match, led by stellar performances by Ashley McClintock (SR/Westville, Indiana) who recorded 19 kills and Sarah Allison (JR/Mishawaka, Indiana) who recorded 12 kills respectively. With all those kills there were plenty of assists to go around, 26 of them logged by Jadalyn Tindall (SR/Fort Wayne, Indiana). Janelle Rehlander (SR/LaPorte, Indiana) also added 15 digs contributing to the Titans all-around team win.
Later they faced Lawrence Tech and were not as fortunate. After splitting the first four sets, IU South Bend went on to lose a tight fifth set 11-15. The Titans struggled converting attacks into kills, hitting only .056 for the match but their defense gave them a chance to win. Four Titans finished the match with double digit digs: Janelle Rehlander (31), Morgan Powell (FR/New Prarie, Indiana) (19), Ashley McClintock (15), and Sarah Allison (12).
IU South Bend has a quick turnaround as they face Williams Baptist College, and Spring Arbor University the second day of the UM Dearborn Earlybird Tournament.
