"As we continue to grow and mature as a campus, expansion of intercollegiate athletics is a logical addition," said Jones. "With almost 8,400 students, many now residing on campus in our River Crossing residences, we need to expand offerings to meet the expectations of our growing full-time student body."
The expansion of its athletics program is a primary goal of the Division of Student Affairs and Enrollment Management. "Intercollegiate athletics is a great way to promote the institution and to recruit quality scholar-athletes that give back to the community," Jones added.
"It's a great time to be a part of Titan Athletics," said Gary Demski, executive director of athletics and activities. "The expansion of athletics will position IU South Bend to attract and retain quality scholar-athletes with the strong educational profile we strive for as an institution."
IU South Bend is a member of the Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) and the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA). Currently, IU South Bend offers men's and women's basketball as intercollegiate programs that compete in the Division I level of the CCAC.
