IU South Bend women's basketball head coach Steve Bruce announced today that Staci Funkhouser will join the Titan program beginning in the fall of 2010.

Funkhouser, a 5'6" guard from Mt. Vernon High School in Fortville, IN, was named to the All-Hoosier Heritage Conference squad and to the All-Hancock County First Team as a junior, while averaging 11.9 points and better than three assists per contest. She was also named to the Hoosier Basketball Magazine Top 100 Underclass Showcase during that season.

During her senior season, Funkhouser was named to the Hoosier Basketball Magazine Top 60 Seniors, but was unable to participate due to injury - a condition that forced her to miss a portion of the season as well. The Marauders closed the 2009-2010 season at 18-3, including a 17-game win streak through the middle of the season, before falling in the sectional.

Funkouser commented that she chose the Titans based on both the athletics and education provided at IU South Bend. "I chose to come to IU South Bend because they offer Dental Hygiene - my major of choice - and I can play basketball at the same time. When I came to watch a practice, the atmosphere was perfect...I love Coach Bruce's demeanor and just how the people are. The girls are just so welcoming."

"I'm looking forward to meeting new people and playing basketball with my new teammates, as well as the overall college experience."

The Titans closed their 2009-2010 season with a 19-11 record and return all but one player from that team next year.
