IU South Bend head coach Steve Bruce has announced that Lauren Adams (Goshen, IN/Northridge HS [Holy Cross]) will join the Titans this fall. Due to transfer rules, Adams will redshirt during the 2010-2011 season and will have three years of eligibility remaining, beginning with the 2011-2012 campaign.
"Lauren enjoyed a successful high school career not only as a basketball player but as a strong leader as well. She comes to us, well prepared having played for an outstanding coach at Northridge High School, Doug Springer. She's is disciplined and understands the concept of cause over self," said Bruce.
At Holy Cross, Adams appeared in eight games as a freshman, averaging 4.0 points and 3.9 rebounds in just over 15 minutes per game.
"I am so excited to be a part of the Women's Basketball program at IU South bend. I have great confidence that I will enjoy playing for Coach Bruce, his staff and the Titans. The girls on the team have such good attitudes and are willing to sacrifice anything for the team. Although I will be redshirting next year I am looking forward to challenging my teammates and myself in practice every day. I'm ready to work hard and become part of a successful program," Adams said.
"We are excited that Lauren chose to join our program. Lauren will redshirt this season and work hard to get into great shape as she rehabs from a knee injury she sustained last year. She will have three years of eligibility and I expect her to have a strong, positive impact on our team."
The Titans finished the 2009-2010 campaign with a 19-11 record and return all but one key contributor from that squad. They open their season on October 30 when they take on Bethel at 1:00 PM.
