South Bend, IN- Former Mishawaka basketball sharp-shooter Steven Heatherly, a 6'3" guard from Wittenberg University, is transferring to IU South Bend to continue his academic and athletic career for the 2010-2011 season. He will play for first year head coach Chad Tapp. Heatherly will have three years of eligibility remaining.
Heatherly played high school basketball at Mishawaka where he averaged 14.5 points per game as a senior. He finished his career as his school's all-time leading 3-point shooter. Additionally, Heatherly was named a 1st Team All-NIC recipient his junior and senior year at MHS. He was a participant in 2009 Sports Fest where he was crowned MVP Honors.
During the 2009-10 school year, Heatherly played in 18 games and averaged eight minutes at Wittenberg University. He tallied a total of 46 points and shot a stellar 42% from the field. The Tigers had a solid year this past season where they finished 21-7.

Steven Heatherly is happy to be back home in the Michiana area. He will team-up with his older brother Kyle who enters his second year as a member of the men's basketball program. Kyle Heatherly had a strong 2009-10 campaign where he earned Honorable Mention All-CCAC Honors.
