IU South Bend
Mishawaka, IN- The IU South Bend Men's Basketball team dropped their first contest of the season to the Bethel Pilots by a score of 74-49. The contest took place at the Wiekamp Center on the campus of Bethel College.
Both teams displayed tough defense during the first ten minutes of play. The Pilots held a slim lead, 15-11 half-way through the first half. Junior Stephen Ward came off the bench for the Pilots and drained three consecutive jumpers from beyond the arc to spark the Pilots and the Titans had to play catch-up from then on.
Bethel took a 30-16 advantage into the locker room at halftime and took advantage of some cold shooting by the Titans. IU South Bend had some good looks at the basket but could not knock down the outside shots. Additionally, the Titans hit on just 6 of 12 from the charity stripe in the first half. Coming out of intermission, the Titans attempted to cut into the deficit but had no answer for the much taller Pilot team.
