Adrian, MI- The IU South Bend men's basketball team dropped a heartbreaker on the road to Siena Heights University 65-61 in double overtime. The Titans fall to 2-7 overall on the year.
Steven Heatherly (Mishawaka HS) had a game-high 26 points (9-of-19 field goals) for IU South Bend and teammate Henry Smith scored 20 points (14-17 FT's) in the loss. Jake Berger had a team-high seven rebounds and Alanzo Bass chipped in with eight points and dished out seven assists for the Titans.
The Saints had a chance to win the contest at the end of the first overtime when the score was knotted up at 55, but missed both free throws to extend the second overtime.
SHU registered four players in double figures led by Mark Snipes who scored 19 points. Brent Reynolds scored 14 points for the Saints in the victory. SHU was a force all night long for the Titans on the glass as they outrebounded them 47-29 on the night.
IU South Bend will be back in action on December 7th when they host Bethel College. Tip-time is set for 7:00 pm at the Student Activities Center on the campus of IU South Bend.
