South Bend, IN- The IU South Bend men's basketball team notched their first conference win by defeating Roosevelt University 59-51 on Wednesday night. With the victory, IU South Bend sits at 9-12/1-1 CCAC on the season while the Lakers drop to 4-15.
Kyle Heatherly had the hot hand for the Titans scoring 11 first half points. The sophomore shooting guard continued solid play in the second scoring a team-high 21 points on 5-of-11 from the field. More importantly, Heatherly connected on 10-11 free throws to seal the victory for the Titans in 40 minutes of action. Steven Heatherly scored 15 points and played solid defense in the victory for the Titans. Junior Jake Berger continues to improve each game he steps on the court for the Titans as he chipped in with 10 points while tallying a perfect 4-of-4 from the charity stripe.
The stat that jumps out in the victory for the Titans was the exceptional foul shooting. IU South connected on 24-of-27 from the charity stripe.
The Titans will hit the hardwood on Saturday when the travel to Saint Xavier University to take on the Cougars. Tip-time is slated for 4:00 p.m. EST.
