(Elkhart, IN/Memorial) paced the Titan attack with 19 kills and added 14 digs, but it wasn't enough as IU South Bend (9-6) dropped a four-set (25-20, 25-21, 20-25, 25-22) to Goshen on Wednesday night.
Troyer led things from the start, picking up four of her terminations during the opening set, but Kate Yoder proved too much for the Titans, picking up six kills of her own. for the set, the Maple Leafs tallied 16 kills against just a trio of errors, hitting .361 to win the opener - a set that featured 11 ties and five lead changes.
The second set was more of the same, with Troyer notching five more kills, but Yoder answering with four of her own. Allie Sailor

Set three saw the Titans turn the tables on Goshen, jumping out to an early lead and holding on for the win. The Maple Leafs managed to tie the score on two occasions, but they never led during the stanza. IU South Bend picked up a dozen kills against three errors, effectively reversing the trend of the first two sets, to hit .333 during the third. Patrice McBee (Monterey, IN/Culver Community) and Troyer each sent down three kills in the set as the Titans won 25-20.
Set four was a mirror image of the first, with the teams trading the lead six times and finding themselves tied on eight occasions. Troyer hammered down seven kills for the set, but committed five of the ten hitting errors for the Titans, leading to a team hitting percentage of just .140 and a Goshen triumph.
Bethany Brewer (Nappanee, IN/NorthWood) led all players in the match with 17 digs, while Brittaney Elsasser (Mishawaka, IN/Mishawaka) chipped in with ten. Chloe McCotter (Battle Creek, MI/Lakeview) handed out 44 assists to pace the Titan offense.
The Titans return to action on Friday night, October 7, when they travel to Kuyper College. First serve of that match is set for 7:00 (EDT).
