Emily Strilich (Valparaiso, IN/Boone Grove) scored nine points and Staci Funkhouser (McCordsville, IN/Mount Vernon), Emily Peppers-VanNamee (South Bend, IN/Northridge) and Lauren Adams (Goshen, IN/Northridge) all chipped in with seven, but IU South Bend (1-3) fell behind early and could never recover, falling 70-50 to Bethel.
The first several minutes of the contest belonged to the Titans, as they forced back-to-back turnovers and jumped out to a quick lead. The Pilots, however, had an answer. As they scored, they were able to get into their full-court defense, which forced the Titans into several turnovers of their own.
As Bethel began to extend their advantage headed to the break, Strilich took over for IU South Bend, scoring on back-to-back possessions on offensive rebounds, bringing the Titans to within nine points at the break.
Out of the half, IU South Bend got the first basket, but it was all Pilots from there, as the Titans would manage just eight points over the next 15:30, and they watched Bethel stretch their advantage.
Strilich also led the way on the glass for the Titans, grabbing six caroms and Lizzie Stapke (Highland, IN/Highland) nabbed five steals.
The Titans return to action on Saturday, November 12, when they host UM-Dearborn. Tip-off of that game is set for 12:00 PM (EST).
