
Elgin, IL- Chris Beam scored a game-high 21 points and teammates Alanzo Bass and Steven Heatherly chipped in with 16 and 13 points as the IU South Bend Titans defeated Judson University 59-42. With the victory IU South Bend improves to 14-11 on the season.
The Titans fell behind early in the first half trailing the Eagles 20-13 with eight minutes left before intermission. IU South Bend turned up the intensity and went on a 12-0 run of their own converting on four consecutive 3-point field goals to take a 25-20 advantage into the break. Sophomore guard Chris Beam paced the Titans in the first half with 11 points.
IU South Bend did not skip a beat coming out of the locker room and continued to knock down jump shots from long range tallying 10-of-23 field goals from beyond the arc on the night to seal the victory. The Titans also turned it up on defense forcing the Eagles into 22 turnovers in the victory.
Guard play carried the Titans in the victory over the Eagles as Beam, Bass and Steven Heatherly connected on 14-of-29 field goals in the victory. Bass pulled down a game-high 11 rebounds and dished out five assists on the night.
IU South Bend will return to the hardwood on Saturday to host the Eagles of Robert Morris University in its "Pink Zone" game. Tip-off is set for 2:00 p.m. EST. The annual game is an effort to raise Breast Cancer Awareness. Fans are encouraged to wear pink to show their support.
