
South Bend, IN- Kyle Heatherly scored a team-high 20 points connecting on 8-of-17 field goals and Chris Beam added 17 points, however it wasn't enough as IU South Bend (14-12, 3-3) fell to NAIA #1 Robert Morris University (23-2, 6-0) 84-70 on Saturday afternoon 84-70.
The Titans fell behind early as RMU opened up the contest 16-0 on hot shooting by point guard Diante Watkins. He scored a game-high 22 points hitting on 7-of-12 field goals for the Eagles as they built the lead up to 25 with 3:36 left in the first half before the Titans went on a 17-2 run of their own to cut the deficit to just 10 right before the half.
Alanzo Bass turned a solid outing for the Titans filling up the stat sheet. The point guard tallied 12 points, nine rebounds, six assists and four steals for the Titans. Teammate Marcus Macellari chipped in with 10 points on 5-of-6 field goals.
RMU registered four players in double figures and connected on 13-of-27 from beyond the arc. The Eagles hit on 29-of-56 (51.8%) field goals and shot 13-of-14 (92.9%) from the charity stripe.
IU South Bend returns to the hardwood on Tuesday, February 14, when they host the Lakers from Roosevelt University. Tip-off for the contest is set for 8:00 PM (EST), and the game can be seen live at www.iusbtitans.com.
