
South Bend, IN- Steven Heatherly poured in a team-high 18 points as IU South Bend defeated Roosevelt University 62-53 in CCAC action. Heatherly hit on 7-of-8 shots from the field including 4-of-5 from long range. With the victory the Titans sit at 15-12 and 4-3 in the conference.
The Titans and Lakers battled hard the first 20 minutes of action as both teams displayed hot shooting from beyond the arc. Paul Tometich for RU nailed 3-of-4 from 3-point land and tallied 13 points leading into the break as the Lakers held a 35-32 advantage.
IU South Bend would come out of the break hitting on 12-of-25 shots in the second half registering four players in double figures. Kyle Heatherly and Chris Beam each tallied 13 points and teammate Henry Smith chipped in with 10 in the victory. Beam also pulled down a game-high nine boards on the night
Alanzo Bass controlled the tempo of the game for the Titans. The lefty point guard scored 8 points and pulled down six rebounds in the win. IU South Bend committed just six turnovers in the game and forced the Lakers into 14 miscues and held RU to just 18 points in the second half. The Titans sizzled the nets from long range connecting on 7-of-17 3 point field goals.
Paul Tometich scored 18 points for the Lakers in the loss and Mark Tometich netted 14 points.
The Titans return to action on Saturday, February 18, when they travel to Saint Xavier University to take on the Cougars. Tip-off of that game is set for 4:00 PM (EST).
