The IU South Bend men's basketball team lost a hard fought contest on Tuesday night as the Titans traveled to Olivet Nazarene University to take on the Tigers in CCAC action. ONU defeated the Titans 78-69 and with the loss IU South Bend falls to 15-14 overall and 4-5 in the conference.
The Titans fell behind early 30-12 and fought their way back into the contest trimming the Tigers lead to just five points right before the half at 35-30. Both teams shot the ball well on the night and the Titans tied the contest at 43-43 riding the hot hand of sophomore shooting guard Chris Beam.
Beam (9-of-17 FG's) scored a game-high 24 points as four Titans registered double figures on the night. Teammates Kyle and Steve Heatherly chipped in with 14 and 12 points respectively and point guard Alanzo Bass scored 10 points in the loss.
ONU proved to be too much to handle in the paint controlling the boards 39-20. The Titans committed just six turnovers in the contest and shot 27-of-57 for the contest.
The Titans will close out the 2011-2012 regular season campaign on Saturday, February 25, when they host the Fighting Saints of St. Francis (IL). Tip-time is set for 2:00 p.m. EST.
