The IU South Bend Athletic Department is proud to announce the addition of Lizzie Stapke to the staff of the Women's Basketball program. Stapke will serve under Head Coach Steve Bruce as Assistant Coach and she will assist in the recruitment of future Titan Players. "I am very excited about having Liz on staff for the upcoming basketball season," said Coach Bruce. "This will give her a chance to continue to grow the great leadership potential that she has within her." Stapke, a former Titan herself, brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to the bench and will surely have a great impact on the success of the women's program.
A native of Highland, IN, Stapke was a four-year starter for Coach Bruce and she left the Titan program as one of the best players of all-time. She earned CCAC Freshman of the Year honors in 2008 and was subsequently named to the CCAC All-Conference team the following three years. Stapke ended her career with 1,084 points, 534 rebounds and 232 steals. Her career totals in steals and 3-points field goals made ranks her in the top 10 ever to don the Titan uniform at IU South Bend.
Stapke earned her bachelor's degree from the School of Business & Economic with an emphasis in Marketing. She has made a consistent effort to volunteer in her community and is eager to begin her career as a mentor and coach for all present and future Titan players. "She is fiercely loyal, trustworthy and hard working. Lizzie will be an excellent addition to the athletic staff here at IU South Bend and we are proud to welcome her back into the Titan athletic family."
