Head Coach Jamie Ashmore-Pott announced the signing of three new Titan players on Thursday. These three new players fill important positions for the Titan volleyball squad as the program looks to continue the success they had last year in the program's inaugural season (15-9 record). The new players are:
Kierstynn Combs-Right Side
Combs, a 5-7 sophomore originally from Winimac, IN, transfers to IU South Bend after spending least season playing basketball at Bethel College. A standout in volleyball, basketball and tennis at Knox High School, she was an integral member of the volleyball team that won back-to-back Sectionals and captured the first Regional championship for the Redskins. She will play on the Right Side for Coach Ashmore-Pott's line up and is expected to contribute immediately.
McKenzie Chenowith-Outside Hitter
Chenowith is a 5-11 junior from Perry Meridian High School in Indianapolis, IN, and transfers to IU South Bend from Danville Community College in Danville, IL. She is expected to play Outside Hitter for the Titans and brings a great amount of experience with her to the team. As a senior at Perry Meridian, Chenowith helped lead the Falcons to an 18-10 record, including an undefeated 7-0 record in conference play.
Samantha Stinson-Setter/Defensive Specialist
Stinson is a 5-8 freshman signee from Edinburgh, IN. A standout athlete for the Lancers, she played volleyball, basketball and softball and also served as the Vice-President of her graduating class. She will be a setter and defensive specialist for the Titans this year.
The Titans will kick-off the 2012 season on August 22nd when they host Davenport University.
