The Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference men's basketball awards were announced Saturday night at the conclusion of the men's CCAC Conference. Congratulations to senior shooting guard Steven Heatherly (Mishawaka, IN/Mishawaka HS) for being named a 2nd team All-Conference Selection for the 2012-13 season.
Steven Heatherly averaged 14.6 points a contest during conference action in twenty-five contests. He connected on 44 percent (120-272) of his field goals and shot an impressive 39% (49-127) from beyond the arc. He ranked 10th overall in steals with 1.5 per game. His strongest offensive performance during conference play came on January 10, 2013, versus the Holy Cross Saints. The senior guard poured in a career best 25 points as he connected on 10-of-19 field goals.
Steven Heatherly played an integral role for the 2012-13 campaign for the Titans. IU South Bend finished the season 20-12 overall including an impressive 17-8 finish in the CCAC conference. The historical season was capped off by registering the most wins in a single season in school history. Additionally, the Titans finished in third place out of thirteen teams in the CCAC DII conference.
"I'm extremely happy for Steven being named all-conference," said 3rd year Head Coach Chad Tapp. "He did what good seniors and all-conference players do in terms of stepping up when he was really needed most at the end of the season and carried us at times offensively. It was a goal of his coming into this season and he is extremely deserving of this award."
Steven Heatherly will earn his degree this year from the School of Business with an emphasis in Business & Economics.
