Katie Hacker (Indianapolis, IN/Franklin Central HS) led three Titans in double figures with 15 points as IU South Bend used a 10-0 spurt to close their first half to break open a tie game and roll to a 72-47 win. The victory moves the Titans to 5-0 on the season and, as it was the first CCAC contest of the season, 1-0 in CCAC play. Lizzie Stapke (Highland, IN/Highland HS) added 11 points for IU South Bend while Betsy Grogan (Battle Ground, IN/West Lafayette Harrison HS) tallied ten.

The Titans jumped out to an early lead, scoring ten of the first 12 points of the contest to hold an eight point edge just two minutes into the contest. From that point, Holy Cross launched an extended run - lasting much of the first half - to tie the game at 22. WIth that score showing, Tiffanie Graham (South Bend, IN/Riley HS [Southeastern Illinois]) drove into the paint and was fouled, sending her to the line. It was that foul that created a technical foul against the Saints and allowed Hacker to go to the line as well. Graham split her free throws while Hacker made both - the three points marking the beginning of the 10-0 run.

The second half was all Titans,as they steadily pulled away from Holy Cross. IU South Bend shot a blistering 55.6% (15-for-27) from the floor in the second stanza, while holding the Saints to 26.5% (9-of-34). The Titans also connected on five of their 11 three-point attempts after the break, after missing all six of their triples in the first half.

In addition to the three players in double figures, Graham and Courtney Simpson (Nappanee, IN/NorthWood HS) each added eight points in the balanced effort that saw all but two Titans score. Five players - Simpson, Stapke, Graham, Whitney Cole (North Judson, IN/North Judson [St. Joseph's (IN)]) and Ashley Hummer (South Bend, IN/Mishawaka Marian [Goshen College]) - each pulled down four rebounds to lead IU South Bend and Graham handed out four assists.

Baysia Cox and Lindsay Swaim each scored ten points to lead Holy Cross.

The Titans return to action Tuesday night when they continue their seven-game road swing by traveling to Marion, IN and taking on the WIldcats of Indiana Wesleyan. Tip off of that contest is set for 6:00 PM.
