LaPorte, IN – The IU South Bend men's basketball team picked up their third straight win as they defeated Purdue North Central, 92-76 on Thursday night. The win moves the Titans to 6-7 on the season and 2-2 in Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference action.
Chris Beam (Borden, IN) led the Titans offense with 19 points, 11 of which came from the free-throw line. Jason Jordan (South Bend, IN) recorded 18 points on 6-of-10 shooting in 22 minutes of action. Brandon Beam (Borden, IN) and Austin Paul (Columbia City, IN) each chipped in 10 points, respectively.
The Titans played suffocating defense, forcing the Panthers into 18 turnovers and picking up eight steals on the night.
IU South Bend took control of the game from the jump with their up-tempo offense. However, with 8:40 to play, PNC gained their first lead of the game at 21-20. The Panthers lead did not last long, as the Titans busted the game wide open with a 22-4 run to turn a one point deficit into a 17 points advantage.
PNC would chip away at the Titans lead and get it down to 12, 44-32 going into the break.
Chris Beam gave the Titans a 22 point lead, their largest of the game when he converted a pair of free throws just minutes into the second half of action.
PNC could not get any closer than 13 points for the remainder of the game as the Titans cruised to a 92-76 win. The 92 points is the fourth times the Titans have scored 90 or more points this season.
On Saturday, the Titans will travel to Fort Wayne to battle Indiana Tech University who is coming off an upset of #25 Lourdes University. Tip-off is set for 3:00 p.m. EST
