(South Bend, IN)  November 18, 2009 will be a date that IU South Bend junior forward Ben Werner (New Paris, IN) will remember for quite a long time.  Werner scored his 1,000th point as a member of the IU South Bend Titan basketball program on Wednesday evening in front of the home crowd as the Titans played host to McKendree University.

Werner was just 13 points shy going into Wednesday's  contest and finished the game with a double-double registering 16 points and 11 rebounds in a loss to McKendree University.  He eclipsed the 1,000 mark in smooth fashion.  Werner knifed through the Bobcat defense and scored a bucket on an acrobatic lay-up.

Werner has made quite a name for himself in the Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference.  In his first two seasons as a member of the Titans, he was named a 1st Team All-CCAC selection and has been a force in the middle.

During the 2009-10 campaign, Werner is averaging 14.3 points and 6.3 rebounds a contest and is leading in a majority of offensive categories for the Titans.  He is shooting .42% from the field and .69% from the free-throw line.
