South Bend, IN – The Titans dropped an 80-63 decision to the University of Saint Francis on Monday night at the Student Activities Center. A slow start for the Titans mixed with red hot shooting from USF made for a long night for the Titans. The loss moves the Titans to 7-12 on the season with a 3-6 mark in the CCAC.
Just seven minutes into the game, the Titans were staring a 14 point deficit, 22-8. In these seven minutes the Titans committed six turnovers. Continuing to struggled finding an answer for the Saints' hot hands, the Titans trailed by as many as 28 points in the opening 20 minutes of action.
Mark White (Muncie, IN) led the Titans at the break with six points off the bench. Beacher Ward (Indianapolis, IN) chipped in with five points and two rebounds. Joe Godfread (Elkhart, IN) picked up two points, three rebounds, and a block in 13 minutes of action.
The Titans showed some fight in the second half as they went on a 13-2 run capped off by a Jordan Grant (Gary, IN) jumper to make it 70-53 with 8:49 to play.
However, the Titans could not overcome the slow start as the Saints closed out the game for their eighth win of the year.
Ward, White, and Jason Jordan (South Bend, IN) all finished with 10 points, respectively. Adison Daub (Corunna, IN) chipped in with eight points off the bench, including two three-point baskets. Godfread finished with seven points, three boards, and three blocks.
After the Saints shot 75% from beyond the arc in the first half, the Titans held them to just 13% in the second half to shoot 44% in the win.
The Titans travel to Roosevelt University on Wednesday with tip-off slated for 8:30 CST.
