Elgin, Ill- The Titans picked up a solid CCAC road win over Judson University on Saturday afternoon by the score of 68-59. IU South Bend had to battle not only Mother Nature on the drive to JU, but also hot first half shooting by the Eagles. JU connected on 8-of-14 first half shots from beyond the arc. The Eagles built an early 20-11 advantage at the 11 minute mark in the first half and the Titans trailed by just six heading into intermission.
The Titans tightened up on defense in the final 20 minutes of play holding the Eagles to just one-of-eight 3-pointers. With 4:25 left in the contest, IU South Bend went on a 12-4 run to close out the contest. Sophomore Brandon Beam scored six consecutive points during this stretch and sealed the deal for the Titans.
Jason Jordan, Chris Beam, and Brandon Beam were clutch for the Titans in the victory. Chris Beam had a game-high 21 points connecting on eight-of-13 shots from the field. Brandon Beam and Jordan turned in solid performances as well in the victory each pouring in 14 points for IUSB. Jordan Grant provided some quality minutes off the bench hauling down a team-high six boards. Teammate Beacher Ward provided some spark off the bench chipping in with seven points in 24 minutes of action.
With the victory, the Titans improve to 9-13 overall including 5-7 in CCAC action.
The Titans will return to the hardwood on Wednesday when they travel six miles across town to take on the Saints from Holy Cross College. Tip-off is set for 7:30 EST
