Bourbonnais, IL – The IU South Bend men's basketball team traveled to Olivet Nazarene University on Saturday afternoon to wrap up the 2013-14 regular season. The Titans did not have an answer for the Tigers in the second half as they fell 91-56. IUSB shot just 32% from the field on the night.
Falling behind early by a score of 14-5, the Titans kept battling and went on a 15-6 run to even the game at 20, eventually taking a 22-20 lead when Joe Godfread (Elkhart, IN) put in a layup at the 8:27 mark in the first half.
Olivet Nazarene responded to the Titans big run with one of their own. Towards the end of the half, the Tigers went on a 14-2 run to put the Tigers up 10 points, 34-24. ONU would get one more bucked before the half to take a 36-25 after 20 minutes.
Jordan Grant (Gary, IN) and Godfread each scored five points for the Titans in the first half. IUSB shot 16 free throws in the opening frame but could only connect on nine of them.
The Titans shot just 28% from the floor but hit half of their three-point attempts.
In the first seven minutes of the second half, the Titans struggled scoring the basketball as they scored just nine points. While the Titans went cold, the Tigers got hot and built their lead to 22 points, 56-34, with 12:43 showing on the clock.
ONU continued to control the rest of the game on their way to a victory over the Titans.
Grant and Chris Beam (Borden, IN) each finished the game with nine points, respectively.
The Titans got outrebounded 50-29 in the loss.
IUSB will travel for the first round of the Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference Tournament next week. Time and opponent TBD.
