South Bend, IN – The IU South Bend men's basketball team added another player to roster for next season as Head Coach Scott Cooper announced the commitment of Jeremy Jones on Tuesday. Jones joins high school teammate Oosha Mitchell, who also signed to play for the Titans next season.
"We were excited to get Jeremy's commitment this morning," said Coach Cooper. "Jeremy is a long, athletic wing player who can really shoot the three, and defend on the perimeter. He was one of the more underrated players in Indiana this year because he played on such a talented team. He would have been the best player for a lot of teams, but he sacrificed personal glory for the success of the program, which I think says a lot about what a great teammate and high character kid he is."
The Fort Wayne North High School standout helped lead the Redskins to a 24-2 record and a No. 4 ranking in the Indiana High School Athletic Association class 4A. Jones averaged 12.1 points per game which earned him a Summit Athletic Conference second-team selection. A breakout season also earned Jones an invitation to the Excel Sports Senior All-Start game.
The Redskins finished the season with a SAC regular season crown as well as winning the SAC tournament under Head Coach Shabaz Khaliq.
"We always talk about recruiting players, people, and programs, and Jeremy is a great get for us on all three levels," stated Cooper. "He is a very good player who fits our need for better athletes and three point shooters. He comes from one of the top programs in the state, and has been well coached in high school. Most importantly, he is a great kid, and a good student in the classroom. I expect him to do very well here on and off the court."
