SOUTH BEND, Ind. – Indiana University South Bend Head Men's Basketball Coach Scott Cooper continues to sign local standouts, this time it was Taylor Brooks of Penn High School who committed to play for the Titans on April 25th. Brooks is the third recruit from the South Bend area, joining Tyler "TJ" Benner and Javonte Young.
The 6'5" forward averaged 9.7 points per game during his senior season under Head Coach Al Rhodes. Brooks helped lead the Kingsmen to back-to-back Northern Indiana Conference titles in his final two seasons.
Penn finished the season with a 23-2 and a sectional championship during the 2014 season. The Kingsmen were ranked as high as No. 6 in 4A during this past season.
"Taylor is a guy that has been on our radar all year, and was a good get for us this late in the recruiting process," said Coach Cooper. "He is a versatile forward with some serious length and high motor. His ability to shoot the three, finish inside, defend multiple positions, and rebound in traffic will make him a great fit in our program. He is also a high character kid from a great family."
"He played for one of the best teams in the state this past season, and was overshadowed a little bit because of how talented and deep Penn was this season," stated Cooper. "However he takes a lot of pride in having done his job well for that team, which says a lot about what a good teammate he is He will have to move out to the perimeter a little bit more in our system, but we think as he develops physically that he will be a good player for us."
