SOUTH BEND, Ind. – The Indiana University South Bend men's basketball program continues to add talent and depth to the 2014-15 recruiting class. Head Coach Scott Cooper announced the commitment from Jacob Foster on Friday.
"Jacob is a great get for our program. He is a long, athletic, versatile forward who can score a lot of different ways, rebound in traffic, and protect the rim defensively," said Cooper. "He has been well coached in high school, and was a big part of the reason Wapahani was one of the best teams in the state this past season."
Foster finished up his prep career at Waphani High School playing for Head Coach Matt Luce. The Raiders finished the 2014 season with a 22-2 overall record and a No. 3 ranking in their respective class. Jacob helped lead the Raiders to back-to-back sectional championships in his final two seasons at WHS.
"Jacob is also a great student in the classroom, and a very good kid off the court," says Cooper. "We think that he can contribute right away, and that the combination of Jacob, Oosha Mitchell, Jordan Grant, Beacher Ward, and eventually Taylor Brooks gives us a very strong front line not only this year, but for the next four years."
The 6'7" forward was a winner on and off the court as he earned a unanimous all-state selection as well as Indiana Basketball Coaches Association first team academic all-state honors in his senior season.
The four year varsity starter turned in an impressive senior campaign as he averaged 16.9 points, 8.2 rebounds, 2.2 blocks, and shot 66% from the field.
