SOUTH BEND, IN – Indiana University South Bend Head Men's Basketball Coach Scott Cooper has announced the addition of Samuel Wilson to the roster for the 2014-15 season. Wilson becomes the eighth member of this recruiting class joining: T.J. Benner, Oosha Mitchell, Jeremy Jones, Javonte Young, Taylor Brooks, Jacob Foster, and Dante Butler.
"Sam was kind of an under-the-radar guy this past season because of where he played. He has good size, is very skilled, and can play a few different positions offensively," said Coach Cooper.
The Milford, Indiana native played for the Benton Homeschool Bucks under his father Ben Wilson. Wilson helped lead the Bucks to a 22-11 record during his senior season. Samuel led the Bucks in scoring, averaging 20.3 points per game, while pulling down 10 rebounds and blocking 1.9 shots per game. The 6'7" forward is an efficient scorer as he shot 57% from the field and 39% from beyond the arc.
"As he gets stronger, and adjusts to the speed and physical play at the college level, I think he will develop into a solid player in our program," continued Cooper. "Sam is also a very good kid from a great family, as well as a good student in the classroom. He has a bright future at IU South Bend."
