Katie Hacker (Indianapolis, IN/Franklin Central HS) scored 18 points - 14 in the first half - and Becca Hoefler (Valparaiso, IN/Valparaiso HS) added 14 points and nine rebounds off the bench as the Titans overcame 24 turnovers to defeat Trinity International 71-54.

IU South Bend shot 44% from the field for the contest, connecting on 25-of-56 from the floor, while the Trojans outshot the Titans, hitting 45% of their shots. It was ball security and the free throw line, however, where IU South Bend took advantage, forcing 33 miscues by Trinity International and hitting 15-of-24 from the charity stripe, compared to 4-for-7 for the Trojans.

The Titans jumped out to an early lead, thanks to a three-point play from Hacker and some quick baskets in transition. Over the next several minutes, the Trojans were able to close the contest down, and eventually able to tie the game at 17 with eight minutes left in the first half. From there, IU South Bend went on an extended run of their own, opening up a 38-23 lead in the final minutes, and eventually holding a 38-28 edge as the teams reach the half.

Out of the break, Lizzie Stapke (Highland, IN/Highland HS) found her stroke from behind the arc, connecting on a pair of triples in the opening minutes to push the Titans lead. On several occasions, Trinity International was able to reduce their deficit to seven points, but never got closer and the Titans held on for the win.

Hacker added six rebounds to her 18 points, while Stapke finished the game with ten points and collected five caroms. Tiffanie Graham (South Bend, IN/Riley HS [Southeastern Illinois]) handed out six assists and nabbed four steals, while Hacker, Ashley Hummer (South Bend, IN/Mishawaka Marian HS [Goshen]) and Courtney Simpson (Nappanee, IN/NorthWood HS) each collected three takeaways.

Reanna Perera led all players, scoring 22 points to lead Trinity International.

The Titans return to the court at the Student Activities Center for their final home contest before an extended break on Wednesday, December 9, when they play host to Huntington University. Game time is set for 7PM.
