SOUTH BEND, Ind. – The Indiana University South Bend men's basketball team will travel 4.42 miles tonight for their first Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference game against the Saints of Holy Cross College. The game will follow the women's game at 7:30 p.m.
LAST TIME OUT: The Titans are coming off an 83-68 victory over fellow IU regional campus, IU Kokomo. Three players scored in double-figures led by junior college transfer, Javonte Young who poured in a game-high 26. Freshman Jacob Foster had a career day with 19 points while Mark White chipped in with 12 points and dished out a team-high six assists.
The win snapped a three game losing skid for IU South Bend.
QUICK GLANCE AT THE SAINTS: The Saints are coming off an overtime win over Marian University to bring their record to .500 (4-4). Holy Cross has already played a CCAC game, picking up a 74-64 victory over Purdue North Central nearly a week ago. Karl Columbus, a junior from South Bend leads the Saints in scoring with just over 17 points per game. Among other double figures scorers are O'Brien Hobbs (11.9 ppg), Zoe Bauer (11.7 ppg), and Drew More (11.5 ppg). The Saints are shooting 41% from the field and 45% from the field as a team.
TOP TITANS: Young has filled the scoring void left behind from last year's graduating players as he is averaging 15.9 ppg to go along with 4.6 rebounds per game. Freshman Oosha Mitchell is also averagining double figures with 11.4 ppg while White is scoring just over 12 ppg and is also the team's leading assist man with 18.
BY THE NUMBERS: The Titans are amongst the nation's leaders in three-point field goals made per game with 10.4. IU South Bend is 14th in the nation in blocks per game with 4.4. Individually, White's 20 steals ranks him eighth nationally and first in the CCAC.
