NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – IU South Bend men's basketball player Oosha Mitchell has been named the United States Collegiate Athletic Association Division I Men's Basketball Player of the Week as announced by the office on Tuesday.
Mitchell, a 6-5 freshman forward put up big numbers for the Titans this week as he averaged 21.5 ppg and 11.5 rpg, leading IU South Bend to a 2-0 week, including their first CCAC win of the season.
Mitchell began the week with a game-high 22 points and nine rebounds as the Titans edged Holy Cross, 75-72 to open conference play.
In their second game of the week, Mitchell scored 21 points and pulled down a game-high 14 boards to lead the Titans past the Blue Devils of Lawrence Tech. Oosha connected on 4-of-5 shots from beyond the arc.
For the week, Mitchell shot 69.6% from the field and 58% from the three point line. The Titans are 5-4 overall and have won three in a row.
