BOURBONNAIS, Ill. – Despite hot shooting from long distance, the Indiana University South Bend men's basketball team fell at Olivet Nazarene University by a score of 84-58 on Monday night. Oosha Mitchell (FR/Fort Wayne, Ind.) made a career-high six 3-pointers including four in the second half and finished with 22 points, tying his season-high.
The Titans connected on 13-of-35 three-point attempts, but was a dismal 3-of-10 from the free throw line.
Scoring did not come easy for either team in the early goings of the game. The Tigers and Titans combined for just seven points in the first five minutes of the first half. With the score 4-3 in favor of the Tigers, ONU went on an 8-0 run to take an eight-point lead that eventually turned into a 10-point advantage.
Mitchell rattled off five consecutive points to cut the ONU lead to five points with 6:43 left in the opening half. The Tigers answered with a 12-0 run to extend their lead to 17 points with less than four minutes left in the half.
Trailing 35-20 at the break, the Titans never recovered as they trailed by double digits for the entire second half.
The Titans return to the hardwood on Wednesday as they welcome Roosevelt University to the Student Activities Center. Tipoff is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. EST.
