SOUTH BEND, Ind. – Indiana University South Bend adds yet another player to its roster for the inaugural season in 2015-16. Head coach Brian Blondell announced the signing of Robert Hernandez on Monday evening.
Hernandez is finishing up his prep career at Griffith High School in Griffith, Indiana and is set to graduate this spring. The dual-sport athlete earned letters in both baseball and football while being named a team captain on both of those teams during his senior season. The 5'10" All-North Central Conference selection has helped lead the Panthers to three consecutive sectional championships and three straight regional runner-up finishes.
Robert is very active off the field as well as he is part of National Honor Society and Student Council. With a 3.8 grade point average, Hernandez has been a part of the A/B Honor Roll since his freshman year. He participated in the NCC Leadership Conference in 2012 and is now in the top 20 percent in his class (27).
The son of Robert and Kim Hernandez, he intends to study Health Science at IU South Bend.
