SOUTH BEND, Ind. – The Indiana University South Bend baseball squad continues to add depth to its roster for the inaugural season beginning in the fall of 2015. Drew McDonald of John Glenn High School and Austin Pickett of Gunnison Valley High School in Gunnison, Utah each signed a letter of intent to suit up for the Titans.
McDonald, a four-time Northern State all-conference selection joins IU South Bend after a prep career with the Falcons under coach, John Nadolny. The 6'0" shortstop received nods for most valuable player, defensive award, and the batting title for JGHS during his senior season.
Drew boasted a 3.4 grade point average at John Glenn and is undecided on his field of study at IU South Bend.
Off the diamond, McDonald was a member of the student council.
Austin Pickett comes to IU South Bend after a decorated high school career in Gunnison, Utah. Pickett was named team captain of the Gunnison Bulldogs in his senior season and helped lead GVHS to a 15-6 overall record. The 6'2" catcher earned Salt Lake Tribune honorable mention along with a Desert News second team selection in his final prep season.
Pickett was involved in youth city council, DECA, and was a member of the honor roll while at GVHS. He also earned the Sterling Scholar Award while maintaining a 3.87 grade point average and ranking 17th in his senior class.
Austin plans to study marketing while at IU South Bend.
The Titans will open their inaugural season with practice beginning in early September.
