SOUTH BEND, Ind. - The Indiana University South Bend baseball squad is close to finalizing its roster for the inaugural season in 2015-16 with the addition of four student-athletes as announced by head coach Brian Blondell.
The first addition is a local standout from Mishawaka High School, Cody Quier. A two-way player for the Caveman, Quier will join the Titans as a right-handed pitcher, but saw a lot of time at shortstop for Mishawaka. He is coming off back-to-back All-Northern Indiana second team selections under head coach John Huemmer.
Austin Weaver prepped at Western High School in Russiaville, Indiana where he helped lead the Panthers to the 2012 IHSAA Class 3A State Championship. Weaver earned three all-conference accolades, two in baseball and one in basketball during his time at WHS. The four year varsity baseball letterman also earned letters in basketball and soccer.
Weaver had a dominant summer pitching for Kokomo Post 6 where he posted a 1.1 earned run average guiding the post to a regional championship.
Austin was part of the National Honor Society and was named to the Academic All-State team in basketball.
SA Dunn of Kokomo High School was a three year varsity starter for the Wildkats and coach Sean Swan. Dunn also played for Kokomo Post 6 where he boasted a .438 batting average, 30 RBI, and 24 stolen bases. SA was a two-time all-conference selection in both soccer and football.
Jacob Kwisz joins the Titans after a prep career at Knightstown High School under head coach Darren Hardesty. Kwisz was named all-area, all-state, and a member of the North-South All-Star game.
The Titans will begin practicing in September with their first regular season game on February 19, 2016 in Cartersville, Georgia.
