SOUTH BEND, Ind. – Sophomore Jeremy Jones (SO/Fort Wayne, Ind.) torched the net on Saturday night as the Indiana University South Bend men's basketball squad defeated Andrews University 77-44 in the home opener of the 2015-16 season. Jones finished with a game-high 26 points, 24 of which came from beyond the arc. The Fort Wayne, Indiana native was 8-of-13 from long distance while rest of the team was 7-of-21 on the night.
Myluv Sutton (FR/Fort Wayne, Ind. ) started the three-point barrage to kick start a 13-0 run to put the Titans in front 15-4 just nine minutes into the game. Sutton scored seven of the Titans' 13 points during the run. Mark White (SR/Muncie, Ind.) gave IU South Bend its first 20 point lead of the contest with a steal and a layup at the other end to make it 36-16 with just over two minutes to play in the first frame.
IU South Bend went into halftime with a 20 point advantage, 40-20. Jones led the Titans in scoring at the break with 12 points while Sutton added 10.
The triples continued to fall for the Titans during the second half of action as a Sutton triple gave the Titans a 30 point lead. Jones' final 3-pointer of the night gave the Titans their largest lead of the game at 35 points.
Sutton finished with 21 points on 8-of-10 shooting and a perfect 5-of-5 clip from long distance. The Titans' pressure defense forced the Cardinals into 19 turnovers.
On Wednesday the Titans welcome Indiana University Northwest to the Student Activities Center. Tipoff is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
