SOUTH BEND, Ind. – The Indiana University South Bend men's basketball program is happy to announce the signing of Alex Harmon to a letter of intent on Tuesday afternoon. Harmon joins Jackson Edwards as members of the class of 2020.
"Alex is a really good fit in our program," said Coach Cooper. "He is a very long, very athletic forward who can shoot the three and make plays off the dribble. He is great rebounder and shot blocker, both of which are things that we really need as our program continues to grow. We really think that he will have a very good career on the court here as he continues to get stronger."
The Southwood High School standout had an impressive junior season as he led the state of Indiana in blocked shots, averaging 5.5 blocks per game. Harmon was also productive on the offensive end, scoring 15 points per game while shooting 49 percent from the floor and 35 percent from long distance.
A 6'7" forward, Alex was named to the Indiana High School Athletic Association Honorable Mention team last season.
The Knights finished the 2014-15 season with an overall record of 13-10 under head coach John Burrus.
"Alex is also a good student in the classroom, and a great kid away from the court," continued Cooper. "He is a self-motivated kid, and a good teammate which are two of the first traits we look for in our recruits."
Harmon plans to major in pre-physical therapy while at IU South Bend.
