Katie Hacker (Indianapolis, IN/Franklin Central HS) racked up a double-double with 22 points and 12 rebounds and four more Titans reached double figures as IU South Bend topped Robert Morris 73-70 to improve to 2-0 in CCAC play and 13-4 overall. Ashley Hummer (South Bend, IN/Mishawaka Marian HS) added 14 points, Becca Hoefler (Valparaiso, IN/Valparaiso HS) chipped in with 13, while Betsy Grogan (Battle Ground, IN/West Lafayette Harrison HS) and Kayla George (Peru, IN/Maconaquah HS) scored 12 and ten respectively.

Early in the contest, the Titans were able to open a small lead, holding a 12-6 advantage seven minutes into the contest. As the opening stanza wore on, the advantage was eventually pushed to 24-14, as IU South Bend got eight points apiece from Hoefler, Grogan and George before the break.

However, it was the Eagles who closed the first half strong, first tying the game at 26, then going ahead for the first time since 2-0 at 27-26. Despite the run, the Titans held a slim, 35-32 lead into the halftime break.

Out of the half, a nip-and-tuck affair for the first several minutes turned into a double digit Titan lead again, as Hacker got hot from the outside, connecting on four triples - and 16 of her total points - in the second half. After she connected on back-to-back possessions, IU South Bend held their largest lead at 61-50.

From there, Robert Morris clawed back into the game, but they were never able to get the lead inside of three as the clock wound down. On the final possession, a pair of Eagle three point attempts fell wanting and the Titans held on for the win.

Hacker's double-double was her first of the season and the tenth of her career. Grogan also chipped in with seven rebounds.

Jessica Harris led all players, pouring in 23 points for Robert Morris.

The Titans return to action on Tuesday, January 19 when they host cross-town rival Holy Cross in another CCAC contest. TIp off of that game is set for 7:00 PM.

Milestone Watch: With her 22 points, Hacker now sits at 974, just 26 shy of becoming the 11th player in IU South Bend history to record 1,000 in a career.
